Independent Care Link undertakes a 12 week induction programme. The Care Certificate is an agreed set of standards that sets out the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected of specific job roles in the health and social care sectors. It’s made up of the 15 minimum standards that should be covered if you are ‘new to care’ and should form part of a robust induction programme.
The Care Certificate was developed jointly by Skills for Care, Health education England and Skills for Health. This will include: – Knowledge based sessions, direct observation and professional discussion. Each new staff member will be under the direct supervision of a mentor while out in the community. Your competency will be assessed at each stage of your training and at the end of the 12 week period; if all standards have been met and passed you will be issued with a care certificate. If any standards remain unmet then the induction period will be extended.
